"Team up for cancer research" is the theme of World Cancer Research Day 2020

The fifth edition of World Cancer Research Day aims to raise awareness on the importance of cancer research and issues a call to action for international collaboration to address the increasing challenges in fighting cancer.

The UICC Technical Fellowships and Bourses pour l’Afrique Francophone will re-open for applications from 2nd October, following their temporary closure since April due to COVID-19. The annual call for the YY study grants will also open.

While the 5th edition of Country 2 Country 4 Cancer, due to take place this September, had to be called off because of COVID-19, Bristol-Myers Squibb, who sponsors the event, is continuing its generous support of UICC member organisations.

UICC is launching a call for expressions of interest for member organisations from low- and middle-income countries to join its Cancer Advocates programme and inspire national action on cancer control in their countries.

The rapid ageing of populations around the world has important societal, economic and public health implications. While longevity in itself is a success story, ageing societies bring key challenges for health systems stemming from the growing prevalence of chronic diseases, increased likelihood of multiple conditions and need for long-term care.
