On 21 June in Seoul, Republic of Korea, UICC held its first ‘Leadership in Action’ meeting, a regional forum that convenes senior executives of UICC member organisations to network and engage on regionally relevant issues, challenges, opportunities and best practice to strengthen cancer control in the region.

On 19 July in New York City, the WHO launched the “WHO Report on the Global Tobacco Epidemic.” According to this report, 4.7 billion people are protected by at least one tobacco control measure – 3.6 billion more than in 2007.
