Virtual Dialogue: Supportive and survivorship care for people after cancer – person-centred, not disease-focused

The number of people living after cancer is rising worldwidemaking the challenges of life after diagnosis increasingly visible, and in need of attention.

Overview

Advances in the early detection and treatment of cancer has greatly increased many people’s chances of survival. It has also, however, made the challenges of life after diagnosis and successful treatment increasingly visible and in need of attention.

In this Virtual Dialogue, UICC brought together experts from civil society, academia, the medical profession, as well as cancer patients, to highlight the diversity of needs and challenges that follows a cancer diagnosis, discuss why timely access to supportive and survivorship services should be an indispensable component of quality cancer care and explore what models can be adopted across a variety of settings to better integrate supportive and survivorship care throughout the cancer journey.
