UICC wins the Association Award for Conference Development

Berlin, 11 April 2016 – The Society of Association Executives handed UICC the International & European Associations Award for Conference Development for the World Cancer Congress.

Header Paragraph

The "Conference Development" award category recognises the development of one or more areas of a conference, such as content, design, marketing, sponsorship, delegate, sponsor & exhibitor experience, all of which are vital for success in conferences. The judges are asked to take into account: increased value for stakeholders and/or the whole association’s membership, and the growth of the conference in one area or all.

The World Cancer Congress was recognised for the journey it has embarked on over the last few years when repurposing the event.
A detailed case study presented those results, taken from the last Congress in 2014 in Melbourne. Best practice sharing, education and training initiatives as well as networking opportunities have been essential features that have strengthened the conference offer for the global cancer community. A focus has been placed on cancer implementation science, with a considerable development in the quality and design of the programme. This evolving strategy enabled to introduce a number of innovations to the conference, which have reinforced the event’s standing amongst the global cancer community and positioned it as the leading international conference in cancer control. The judges pointed out the new global village and the online master courses were both great ways to add value for delegates.

“We feel immensely pleased and proud to be internationally recognised by our peers. The award is a real tribute to the endeavour of the dynamic UICC team, our very supportive Board, our members, partners and Congress sponsors whose contribution has been vital in building the Congress success story.”
Ms Jessica Mathieu, Head of Congress and Events, UICC
