The Top 10 Milestones in Global Health of 2012

From PSI’s Impact magazine

Header Paragraph

PSI’s Impact magazine has published a list of the top 10 milestones in global health of 2012. #10 is the addition of the HPV vaccine for cervical cancer to GAVI’s portfolio.

PSI received an overwhelming response from experts and readers, making it difficult to identify just 10 milestones. Some of the suggestions came as no surprise. The London Summit on Family Planning received the most nominations. This landmark partnership between the U.K. Department for International Development (UKAID) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation mobilised billions in commitments to help women and couples in the developing world access family planning products and services.

The addition of the HPV vaccine to GAVI’s portfolio was voted in as the 10th milestone. GAVI’s support for the HPV vaccine will help protect tens of millions of girls from cervical cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths among women in developing countries.
