News 29 May 2015 Sunday 31 May is World No Tobacco Day 2015 This year's World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) theme is "Stop Illicit Trade of Tobacco Products". Header Paragraph According to the World Health Organization, one in every 10 cigarettes, and many other tobacco products, consumed worldwide are illegal, making the illicit trade of tobacco products a major global concern from many perspectives, including health, legal, economic, governance and corruption. The tobacco industry and criminal groups are among those who profit from the illegal tobacco trade, leaving the public to pay the health and security costs. In anticipation of World No Tobacco Day, the last UICC Member Newsletter was a Special Edition on Tobacco Control which highlighted the global challenges and opportunities in tobacco control, and provided some examples of the diverse initiatives that UICC members and partners are involved in.
