Relaunch of the ICCP portal, the key online platform for cancer planners

23 May 2016 - Launched by the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) in November 2013 at the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit, the ICCP Portal is a web-based tool on cancer control planning and capacity-building, linked to non-communicable diseases (NCD) control and prevention.

Header Paragraph

In May 2016, the ICCP portal is relaunched to bundle worldwide efforts to develop and implement national cancer control plans. Thanks to its new look and user-friendly features, cancer control stakeholders can access, online and as a one-stop shop, essential resources to equip them with key tools to tackle cancer in their respective countries and worldwide.

WHY THE ICCP PORTAL?

The members of the United Nations committed themselves to a set of measures within four priority areas – governance, prevention, health care, and surveillance and monitoring. These time-bound measures include setting national NCD targets consistent with global targets, developing national NCD multisectoral plans by 2015, and starting implementation of those plans by 2016, in order to achieve the national targets.(Source: Global Status Report on NCDs 2014)

Taking part in global efforts to reach the reduction of one-third of premature deaths due to NCDs (in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal 3.4), the International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP) is a unique initiative that addresses the need for the cancer control community to invest its efforts in the development and implementation of National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) as described in the Global Status Report in 2014.

ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL CANCER CONTROL PARTNERSHIP

A group of international organisations, already individually engaged in cancer control planning efforts, developed the ICCP concept in November 2012. The Partners are seeking to create synergies in a united approach to maximise collective resources and efforts to support National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) development, implementation and evaluation. The ICCP firmly believes that prioritising cancer prevention and control is critical in order to achieve a 25% reduction in premature mortality due to NCDs by 2025.
