The Access to Basic medical Care Foundation is a non- governmental, non - profit making organisation established in 2011. Cancer control is one of the primary activities of the Foundation: it serves as an advocacy group for cancer awareness, prevention and early detection. This information is disseminated through a number of ways including outreaches and sensitisation exercises in rural areas and urban areas alike particularly within the underserved communities of Oyo State, Nigeria. The Foundation also offers highly subsidised breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment services. Highly subsidised breast cancer screening is carried out through the use of a mammogram machine and ultrasound guided breast scan whilst free cervical cancer screening occurs through Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA). The Foundation also utilises highly subsidised Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) screening for cervical cancer and cryotherapy for treatment. As one of its cancer control activities, the Foundation also provides immunisation and HPV Vaccination for young girls.
