The Maximize Life Essay Contest is part of the broader 2015 Maximize Life Global Cancer Awareness Campaign that will take place during the month of October. The Campaign features numerous events held by partners around the world that highlight inspirational stories from people impacted by cancer, thereby shedding light on the needs of people living with cancer worldwide. All essays will be featured on The Max Foundation website during this time, and the three winners will be announced throughout the month of October.

The Max Foundation is excited to embark on this journey of self-expression, and we look forward to helping individuals around the word spread their stories of hope and courage.

About the Maximize Life Global Cancer Awareness Campaign:

The Maximize Life Global Cancer Awareness Campaign is an annual initiative organised by The Max Foundation, a global health organisation that believes that all people living with cancer have the right to access the best treatment and support. The campaign features concurrent events that take place throughout the month of October, and is implemented in partnership with volunteers and cancer patient organisations around the world. The initiative targets low- and middle-income countries, where cancer stigma is most pervasive, access to treatment is a challenge, and survival rates are sub-optimal.

This annual campaign takes place throughout the month of October in commemoration of the birthday anniversary of Max Rivarola, who lived courageously with leukemia and in whose memory The Max Foundation was created.

The Max Foundation provides small grants as well as supportive branding materials and logistical support. Organisations are encouraged to feature inspirational survivors who are interested in sharing their cancer experience. The campaign is based on the premise that encouraging an open dialogue around the cancer experience increases hope and awareness within the community.
